FAQs
Is a bicycle tour the best way to see London?
We believe that there is no better way to explore London than by bicycle! You don’t get stuck in traffic and your feet wont be sore at the end of the day. On a bicycle you can get closer to the sights, stop whenever you like and explore areas off the beaten path. Plus its a great way to get some exercise and meet other interesting travelers.
Do I need to be fit to join a bike tour?
Our bike tours are suitable for all abilities. We ride at a leisurely pace so that you have plenty of time to look around. We also stop regularly for history snippets and quirky stories – feel free to hop off your bike to take photos! “It’s as easy as riding a bike!”
Do the tours go on the road?
Our tours use the safest and most scenic routes possible. We spend most of our time on dedicated cycle paths or on quiet back streets. Occasionally we ride on cycle paths which run along side of regular road traffic.
Where do tours start from?
The meeting point for all tours is The Walrus Bar & Hostel. Your guide will be waiting there with a Tally Ho bicycle. Please find directions here.
Are the tours suitable for children?
Unfortunately we do not cater for small children due to the size of our bicycles. Generally we would not recommend our rides to people under 5ft tall. However, we do not have a minimum age limit. The smallest bicycle we currently offer is a 17.5″ frame (27.5″ – 31.5″ inside leg) Pashley Princess with 26″ wheels.
What if the weather is bad on the day?
All of our tours run rain or shine. Disposable rain ponchos can be purchased from our office for £1 each should you require one. If at the end of the tour the poncho has not been used, we will buy it back from you for £1.
In the event of adverse weather please call Tally Ho by 9am to check if the tour is still running. In the unlikely event that a tour is cancelled we will reschedule for another day.
Do I need to book or can I just turn up?
Due to limited capacity all tours and bike hire’s must be prebooked. If you would like to check last minute availability please call us on 07969230828.
What time should I arrive?
Try to be at the meeting point 10-15 mins before your tour starts. Feel free to use the facilities at the Bar. We aim to set off on time so please don’t be late. Travel updates on all public transport services can be obtained here.
What if I am late?
If you are late you run the risk of the tour leaving without you. If this happens will try and reschedule you on a later tour, but exact times depend on our availability. Please call us on +44 (0) 7969 230 828 if you need assistance finding the meeting point.
What do I need to bring?
You can wear your ‘every day’ clothes on our bikes. Just dress for the weather! Sunglasses or a hat in summer, and gloves and a scarf in the winter. Bring some cash for drinks and food if required.
You are welcome to leave any unrequired bags or items at our HQ whist out on tour.
Do I have to wear a bike helmet?
It’s not the law in the UK to wear a helmet but we do have bike helmets available if you would like to wear one. Its entirely your own personal decision. Please let your guide know if you require a helmet.
Does the tour include bicycle use?
Yes, you get to ride one of our very lovely hand built British Pashley bicycles.

What sort of security do you require for bike hire?
